DescriptionFile of correspondence originally held in manila file marked 'Easton and Robertson' containing material related to murals commissioned by the architects Easton and Robertson for the King's College Library, Newcastle and the Bank of England. Correspondence related to Annan's commission for the King's College Library includes a letter from the architect noting that the panels should represent 'something generally like wisdom, leaning and knowledge, or some other trio of abstractions' (/1); letters from the architects regarding fees and potential start dates for the work (/2-4); letters from various contractors regarding the commission (/6-10; /12-13; /16); and an endorsement from the insurance underwriters noting that the 'Insured is to be known as Miss Dorothy Annan and not Mrs Trevor Tennant as previously shown on the certificate' (/11). The material related to the Returned Note Building of the Bank of England includes letters related to the design of the mural (/17-22); letters from John Steventon & Sons, the suppliers of biscuit tiles for the commission (/24, /27, /33-35); a draft letter by Annan, possibly in Tennant's hand, to a [Mr Trasler?] regarding her work on the commission, including its design, size, and execution (/43); a letter from the architect noting that they have had 'many complementary comments from the staff of the new building' and acknowledging Annan's disappointment with the lighting of the mural (/44); and series of undated draft letters to the architects, possibly written by Tennant on Annan's behalf (/46-49).
