TitlePhotographs of sculptures in terracotta
Date1942-1947
DescriptionEight black and white photographs of semi-figurative pieces in terra-cotta by Tennant. The majority of photographs are annotated on the reverse by Tennant with the title, material and date of the piece. Some are also annotated with Tennant's name and address. The file includes three markedly different versions of works entitled 'Mother and Child'. The sculptures represented in the file include 'Turning Movement' (/1-3), 'Mother and Child' (/4), 'Mother and Child' (/5), 'Reclining figure' (/6), 'Family group' (/7) and 'Mother and Child' (/8).
NotesAccording to an annotation on the reverse of /1, 'Turning Movement' was in the possession of Donald Gibson Esq, Coventry City Architect. Presumably the piece had been sent to Gibson as an example Tennant's work. Gibson commissioned Tennant to undertake a series of architectural commissions in the city as part of its post-war redevelopment.

This represents an artificial file of photographs gathered together to enable better access to the large volume of sculpture photographs originally located throughout the collection.
