TitlePresentation Board titled 'Mirror Portrait For Camera'
Date1981
DescriptionPresentation board featuring two black and white photographs of the anamorphic mirror sculpture 'Mirror Portrait for Camera' (1981) mounted on grey card. The top photograph shows a corrected image of Dye's self-portrait reflected in a mirrored pyramid. The second image shows the work in its entirety: mirrored floor tiles painted with sections of a linear self-portrait; a squared-based pyramid placed on top of the tiles; and a camera mounted on a tripod capturing the corrected image reflected in the pyramid below. Includes a typescript label.
NotesAn anamorphic image only reveals itself when viewed from a particular perspective or when viewed through a transforming optical device, such as a mirror. In this instance, the mirrored pyramid acts as the optical device enabling Dye's self-portrait to be viewed. The work relates to a period of anamorphic experimentation by Dye.
