| Dye made three site-specific versions of 'Towards/Away From…': the first was made for Dye's solo exhibition at the ICA, London in April 1972; a second version was reshot for the 'The New Art', Hayward Gallery, London in August 1972; and a final version was made for the Arts Council in [1973?]. During filming, Dye filmed his left foot walking away from the exhibiting art institution; he then retraced his footsteps filming his right foot. During exhibition, the films were projected side by side creating the illusion of a pair of feet walking in the same direction. In each of the three site-specific films, Dye is wearing different footwear. |
