TitlePhotographs of palm print experimentation
Date[1981-1983?]
DescriptionA series of black and white photographs of experimentation incorporating images of Dye's palm print originally held in a manila envelope marked 'Palm Print and related photos, 81'. The photographs show enlarged images of Dye's palm print on the ground and adjacent walls. Also includes photographs of Dye standing, lying or placing his outstretched palms over the images. Accompanied by a small cut out of the palm print with an unidentified object placed over it. All the images appear to be in a studio setting. In two of the photographs Dye's anamorphic work 'Idol' is shown on the wall next to an enlarged image of Dye's palm print [8-9]. Also includes two outsized versions of the images not originally held in the envelope.
NotesNegatives of the photographs were found in an Ilford photographic box marked 'Negatives 82/83', suggesting that these images may have been misdated by Dye.

Dye's palm print was a recurring motif that appeared in various experimental works, including a 'painting for video' entitled 'Authentication'.
