Description | Twenty-four black and white photographs of an anamorphic room installation originally held in a W.H. Smith typing paper envelope marked, 'Idol and related photos. 81'. The photographs show an outline line drawing of a moustachioed bodybuilder holding a chest expander. A mirrored central panel reflects a drawing of the bodybuilder’s torso painted on an adjacent wall. Dye features in most of the photographs, either looking directly at the camera, or facing the work with outstretched arms as if embracing/covering the work. In most instances, Dye is bare-chested or naked. Also includes the following: a photograph of Dye's anamorphic drawing of the bodybuilder’s torso [/12]; three contact sheets [13-15]; an outline drawing of Dye's torso, possibly reflected in a square-based pyramid; and images of Dye's upper body cut out from photographs, including one pasted on to a sheet of paper with a [mirror?] drawn around it. All of the images appear to be in a studio setting. The photographs are accompanied by black and white enlargements of three of the images, each featuring Dye [/21-23]; and a copy of /4 mounted on card with a typescript label on the reverse [/23]. |
