DescriptionLarge bundle of mostly unlabelled contact sheets originally held in a photographic envelope marked in black ink, 'David Dye. Proof Sheets'. Contains few complete contact sheets. The images cover a variety of exhibitions and works made during the early 1970s. Includes the following:

/1 Contact sheet of fifteen frames from 'Mirror Film' (1971)

/2-4 Images of 'Hand Piece' (1972), 'Projection/Introjection' (1972), 'Cross-reference Loops' (1972) and 'Confine' (c.1971-72) at Dye's solo exhibition at the ICA, London, 1972.

/5-7 Images of 'Unsigning II' (1972), 'Film on to Film' (c.1972), 'Unsigning for Eight Projectors' (1972) and 'Hand Piece' (1972) at 'The New Art', Hayward Gallery, London in 1972. Images of both ‘Unsigning’ works include annotations in black ink noting where the projected images should appear.

/10-11 Images of the 'Critics Choice' exhibition curated by Richard Cork at Tooth's Gallery, London in 1973. Includes images of the Dye's work 'Moving, Stretched, Horizontal/Static, Contracted, Vertical' (1973).

/12 Contact sheet with images of the Arts Council version of 'Towards/Away From… (c.1971-73).

/13-18 Performance images of 'Overlap' (1973). Parts of the image have been delineated in black ink to highlight the images produced by a hand-held projector in performance. These images 'overlap the same images produced by a stationary projector. Accompanied by an image of a still version of 'Overlap' (1975) in a gallery setting /18].

/19 Images of 'Western Reversal' (1973) in performance. Also includes an image of the mirror frame device used in the installation version of the work for 'Project 74' at Kunsthalle Koln, Cologne, Germany in 1974.

/20-21 Images of 'Frameline' (1975) and a still version of 'Western Reversal' (1975) exhibited at Dye’s solo exhibition at the Lisson Gallery, London in 1975.

/22-23 Contact sheet containing images possibly made in preparation for 'Light Effects Not Seen During Projection' (1974). Also includes images of Dye in a cemetery and a pair of hands placed together as if framing a shot.
