TitleOutline drawings of faces and bodies
Datec.1981
DescriptionA small bundle of unlabelled outline drawings of faces and bodies executed in black ink on A2 paper. Includes the following:

/1 Sexually explicit outline drawing of a semi-naked woman [possibly copied from a pornographic magazine] alongside an outline drawing of a bodybuilder holding a chest expander. The drawing of the bodybuilder featured in Dye's anamorphic work 'Idol' (1981).

/2) Head-on outline drawings of a male and female head. The images appear to have been copied from photographs of people looking into a two-way mirror.

/3 Outline drawing of a hand in a clenched gripping position holding an unseen object. The image is drawn over a series of overlapping rectangular shapes formed into a circle. Dye replicated the image in photographic form. The verso features a pencil outline drawing of a woman’s head in profile drawn inside a square. The square is segmented by lines drawn diagonally from corner to corner. The segmentation of the square suggests that Dye's was considering using the image for an anamorphic work using a mirrored four-sided pyramid.
NotesThe similarity in style to the drawings featured in Dye's mirrored anamorphic works 'Mirror Portrait for Camera' (1981) and 'Idol' (1981), suggests that these works were part of his experimentation using anamorphosis.
