| Description | Small black sketchbook marked on the inside front cover with Dye's name and London address and inscribed, 'started October 26th 1976'. The sketchbook includes pencil and ink notes, sketches and text towards realised and unrealised works, mostly untitled. Includes analytical commentary by Dye in which he interrogates and critiques his ideas and artistic practise. Although little of the material is titled, works involving fragmented mirrors appears to be a recurrent subject throughout. Also includes untitled notes and rough sketches related to works made for his solo exhibition at the Robert Self Galleries, Newcastle and London in 1976; additional notes and sketches for his site specific installation 'A/Partners' (1977) at the Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol in July 1977; and 'to-do' lists, personal reminders and contacts. Accompanied by a loose sheet of sketches and notes removed from the sketchbook and a series of monetary calculations written on the reverse of a flyer for 'Dicks Inn Discotheques'. |
