| Description | Red 'W.H. Smith' spiral bound notebook containing pencil and ink notes, sketches and draft text. Much of the notebook contains draft text for talks on the subject of Dye's film making and expanded cinema. The text includes analytical commentary on Dye's artistic practice and works to date, including an analysis of the paradoxes he finds in his works. Also includes potential performance and installation ideas with sketches. These ideas are sometimes accompanied by analytical commentary by Dye, in which he interrogates and critiques his ideas. Sketches and notes for titled works include 'Moving Still', 'Infinite Recession' and ['Moving Picture'?]. It is not known whether these works were fully realised by Dye. The notebook also includes 'to-do' lists, personal reminders, calculations and contact details. The notebook is accompanied by a draft letter to an acquaintance written on a loose sheet of paper outlining the reasons why he can’t participate in a forthcoming group exhibition. |
