Description | Five black and white photographs of a performance with Paul Burwell during a Jackson Pollock exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, Oxford, 6 May 1979. According to annotations on correlating contact sheets, the photographs were taken by Michael Heindorff. The images show the Jackson Pollock paintings on display with a myriad of explosives, cymbals, gongs and drums strewn on the gallery floor. Accompanied by six black and white contact sheets of the performance. Two contact sheets are annotated in gold ink in an unidentified hand ‘MOMA Oxford Photos by Mike Heindorff Q’ [/6-/7] and appear to be later prints made by the Stephen Cripps Trust. Additional annotations in black and red ink mark out potential images to be used in a publication. featured 'Stephen Cripps: Pyrotechnic Sculptor, A Monograph', published by ACME in association with the Stephen Cripps Trust, (1992). |
