Description | Negatives of a work originally held in a ‘Boots’ photo processing envelope labelled by Cripps in red ink, ‘We were made for each other, Figure + clay steps’. The images show a series of clay steps leading to a table with a figure-like structure made from a metal frame, a pair of tights, [rubber?] hands and a female face cut from a magazine. Sharp spikes, possibly old nails, protrude from the clay and [toilet roll] cascades from the head. Also includes three frames of an unidentified female in the sculpture room moulding one of the hands. Accompanied by two corresponding contact sheets marked in silver ink, ‘We were made for each other, Figure + clay steps’. The contact sheets appear to be later prints of Cripps’ original negatives produced by the Stephen Cripps Trust. They marked on the reverse with the Cripps Trust Catalogue stamp and the number 37. |
