Title	Sketchbook, 1979

Description	Hardback maroon sketchbook containing sketches, notes, poetry and designs towards drawings, wax and plaster casting, landscape and studio-based installation, assemblages, freestanding and serial installations, pallisade enclosures, woodcarving, presentation methodologies and sequences, watercolours, projection, stencil and casting mountain profiles. Imagery including set squares, agricultural tools, navigation, wildlife, animal tracks, landscapes and their profiles, studio space locations, constellations and star-charts, astronomy and the zodiac, snakes, rock piles, axes, fossils, knives, sheep shears, maritime, mountains, geology, coastal landscapes, handprints, Communist iconography together in one drawing (hammer and sickle), ship sail/compass and 'The Old Man of Coniston' at Grizedale Forest, Lake District.
Notes	Information from Clare Rowe: Notes Keir Smith's reference to 'Nimrod's Tower' to be related to the 'Like Nimrod's Towers', Acme Gallery show (1980), 'Realm of Taurus', Grizedale Forest (1979-1980) and 'Seven Stones Before the Old Man' (1982) and 'Walking With Paul' (1979-1981). Also Keir Smith note 'Sailing the Ancient Seas' references his work 'Sailing Ancient Seas' (1982). Clare Rowe also notes work to have been inspired by the Pembrokeshire coast
