Description | Twenty-nine black and white photographs of Annan's paintings. The majority are unlabelled save for a photographer's stamp. A small minority of photographs include manuscript annotations by [Annan?] mostly on the reverse, noting the name of the painting and the gallery where it was exhibited and/or sold. Photographs with annotated titles include: 'Susan Ward' (/1), 'Young Ballerina' (/2), 'Young African Girl' (/4), 'Still Life' (/7), 'The Parade, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire' (/9-10), 'Susan's Supper' (/26), 'Crucifiction' (27), and 'The Natural' (28). Paintings identified by means of the BBC database 'Your Paintings' (created in conjunction with the Public Catalogue Foundation) include 'Girl with an Apple' (/5-6) and 'Still Life with Flowers' (16-18). |
Notes | 'Girl with an Apple' is held by the Brighton and Hove Museums and Art Galleries (/5-6). 'The Parade, Leamington Spa' was exhibited at The Royal Academy in 1945 and is held by the Herbert Gallery and Museum (/9-10). 'The Still Life with Flowers' is held by The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery (/16-18). 'Susan’s Supper' (a painting of Annan's niece) was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1948 (/26). 'The Crucifixion' was exhibited at the Women's International Art Club Exhibition in 1953 (/27). |
