Title | Catalogue for 'el arte como idea en inglaterre', CAYC, Buenos Aires, Argentina |
Date | May 1971 |
Description | Catalogue for 'el arte como idea en inglaterra' (Art as idea from England') at CAYC, Buenos Aires in May 1971. The catalogue comprises a yellow folder - originally held in a square plastic pocket with a CAYC label - containing cards related to the exhibiting artists. Dye's entry includes 'Specifications for 4 mirror pieces' accompanied by a separate card with a square at its centre with instructions for the reader to 'fix a photograph here (taken from over your shoulder) of this page halfway through the motion of being turned'. The cards are in Spanish and English. Participating artists included Keith Arnatt, Sue Arrowsmith, Terry Atkinson, David Bainbridge, Michael Baldwin, Harold Hurrell, Victor Burgin and Bill Woodrow. |
Notes | Dye's text inviting readers to fix a photograph of themselves turning the page echoes his two-page layout for the 'Studio International' magazine-catalogue accompanying 'The British Avant-Garde' at the New York Cultural Centre in 1971. The layout featured an image - taken from over his shoulder - of Dye turning the pages of the exhibition catalogue. |
