| Title | Presentation board titled 'Idol' |
| Date | 1981 |
| Description | Grey presentation board featuring three black and white photographs of an anamorphic corner installation. The top photograph shows an incomplete linear drawing of a bodybuilder with a mirror at its centre; the reflection in the mirror shows Dye looking down into the lens of a camera mounted on a tripod. The middle photograph shows Dye's anamorphic drawing of a bodybuilder's torso. The bottom photograph reveals the anamorphic work in its entirety: an outline line drawing of a moustachioed bodybuilder holding a chest expander with a mirrored central panel reflecting Dye's drawing of the bodybuilder's torso painted on an adjacent wall. A bare-chested Dye appears in the photograph with outstretched arms as if embracing/covering the work. A typescript label gives the title, date and medium of the work. |
| Notes | An anamorphic image only reveals itself when viewed from a particular perspective or when viewed through a transforming optical device, such as a mirror. 'Idol' can only be viewed at a certain point where sections of the drawing - painted on adjacent walls and reflected in a mirror - come together to form an image of a bodybuilder. |
