DescriptionBlack A4 'Daler' sketchbook inscribed on the inside front cover, 'Started October 79'. Contains pencil and ink sketches, diagrams and notes related to Dye's period of experimentation with mirrors and anamorphic sculpture, much of it untitled. Includes sketches of mirrored pyramids and their anamorphic images, some sexually explicit. Also includes draft text for funding applications; sketches for a performance piece involving a mannequin; a draft story-board for 'Figment', intended as a film version of 'Mystery Love Story' (c.1976); detailed sketches and notes for unrealised installations entitled 'Lip Synch', 'Attack' and 'Blue Life'; lecture notes on the films 'The Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach', 'Wind from the East' and 'The Joy of Learning'; and 'to-do' lists, personal reminders and train times. The notebook also contains one page of personal introspection in the form of a letter to an unidentified male. The letter has been an annotated by Dye at a later date. Accompanied by loose pages torn from the sketchbook containing notes and ideas for potential installations, all unrealised; sketches for anamorphic works, some sexually explicit; notes related to the administration of a film course co-ordinated by Dye and Roger Wilson; and draft funding applications.
