The images show a number of works outside the [sculpture school?] at Corsham, including a marquee-like structure made from [string]; a number of overlapping drainpipes - filled with paint - suspended at different heights from a scaffolding frame; Cripps’ sculpture studio at Corsham with various works, including a totem-like structure made from domestic objects; white sheets with large circular paint markings hung up in the grounds of Corsham, possibly the ‘spin drier paintings’ noted on the label; a basic, catapult structure on wheels made from [scaffolding] poles and a wooden plank; painted strips of cloth hung up in the grounds of Corsham; and part of the apparatus made by Cripps to produce the ‘Spin drier’ paintings. Accompanied by two corresponding contact sheets marked in silver and gold ink, ‘Corsham. Spin drier paintings and scaffolding’. Two white labels in an unidentified hand provide brief information about the works. The contact sheets appear to be later prints of Cripps’ original negatives produced by the Stephen Cripps Trust. They marked on the reverse with the Cripps Trust Catalogue stamp and the number 37. |
