Description15 compact cassettes of sound recordings of interviews, performances, sound pieces and 'found' noises by Stephen Cripps. Includes one recording of a performance collaboration with Anne Bean and Paul Burwell in 1981. Includes recordings of radio or TV transmissions. All recordings are noted as copies made by AR [Ally Raftery] in 1982 and 1983. A postcard found with the cassettes is included.

All copies were made by Ally Raftery in 1982-1983 after Stephen Cripps' death. Stephen Cripps used recordings in some of his machines, e.g.: 'Revolving cassette tapes' and 'Garden Swing' (see 'Stephen Cripps. Pyrotechnic Sculptor', ed. by Jonathan Harvey, p. 28-29). As well as in 'Machine to Frighten away Birds' (p. 25). Some of his drawings of unrealized works also feature cassette tapes played, e.g. the sound of a lawn mower in the 'Mechanical Garden path' see 2013.90/A/2/4/10.
