DescriptionHardback black sketchbook containing sketches, notes, and designs towards drawings, assemblages, maquettes, self-portraiture, bust sculptures, studio and gallery installations, commissions, freestanding and serial installations, presentation methodologies and sequences, wood carving, stencils and railway sleeper carving. Imagery including ship timbers, maritime, natural and industrial landscapes, feathers, clouds, mountains, marine wildlife (skate), kite, worms, javelins, arrows, oars, waves (Keir Smith references 'breaker'), agricultural tools, sails, shells, butterflies, fire, bent rails and pickaxes. Keir Smith makes reference to Tate 'From Worms We Came'. Note inserted, hand-written [by Clare Rowe?] regarding a contact for 'plate camera stills'
NotesInformation from Clare Rowe: These are works towards Keir Smith's exhibitions: 'Navigator', Rochdale Art Gallery & National Tour (1984) and 'Sculptors and Modellers', Tate Gallery (1983). Clare Rowe notes transition between carving ship's timber to carving railway sleepers.
