DescriptionHardback black sketchbook dating from undergraduate course at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne containing sketches, collages, notes and designs towards three-dimensional canvas paintings, screen-prints, paint application techniques and processes, freestanding structures, shaped-canvases and the configuration/division of colour on canvas. Images including abstraction, volcano motif, lightning, landscapes, pyramid motif and other varied geometries. Also working towards the construction of interlocking canvases with the 'V' shaped motif, the merging of two-dimensional application techniques and three-dimensional canvas design and triangular-shaped canvases. Includes references to the following artists: 'back to Al Held', [Al Held, (1928 - 2005)]; 'Monet', [Claude Monet, (1840 - 1926)] and 'Seurat', [Georges Pierre Suerat, (1859 - 1891)]. Keir Smith also references the following: 'freestanding structure'; the relationship to the 'spectator'; 'Spill' technique; 'Spill machine' and 'veils; 'truncated pyramid' and self-critique on painting.
