Description	Hardback black sketchbook dating from Keir Smith's undergraduate course at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne containing sketches, collages and notes towards painting. Images include volcanoes, cloud studies, pyramids; mountain lightning perspectival motif; rocky landscapes and coastal images; desert with pyramids; Ziggurat motifs; extensive sketches and working drawings towards silkscreens and paintings. Also workings towards large-scale paintings and 'V' shape of the painted relief through a series of coloured paintings. Keir Smith also notes painting application detailing support, under painting, paint, design and motivation. Keir Smith reference 'proper abstract experimental painting with images'.
Notes	Information from Clare Rowe: Pop-art influences include Richard Hamilton (1922-2011) and Patrick Caulfield (1936 - 2005).
