DescriptionFile of letters originally held in a manila folder marked 'Personal. Trevor's career-teaching-references'. The file comprises manuscript references from a variety of artists and architects, some of which are accompanied by manuscript and typescript copies made by Tennant. The file includes letters and references from Henry Moore, including a manuscript letter from Moore in which he writes 'I hope this is what you wanted and I hope it will help' (/1-4); a manuscript reference from Cosmo Clark, in which he writes that Tennant is 'unusually gifted as a teacher….a student who is fortunate enough to come under his direction will be assured of sound instruction and encouragement' (/5-6); a manuscript reference from Eric Kennington (/7-9); a typescript copy of a reference from Stanley Thorogood, Principal of Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts (/10); a typescript copy of a reference by D.E.E. Gibson, City Architect for Coventry, stating that Tennant 'is an artist of unusual power and imagination with a fine technical equipment….he is a sculptor of very considerable importance' (/11-12); and a letter from Stuart Robinson, Senior Art Lecturer at the City of Coventry Training College, remarking that 'I have heard so much enthusiasm expressed about your demonstration that I had to write and thank you most sincerely for a very enjoyable afternoon' (/13).
