TitlePhotographs of Trevor Tennant's Sculpture, 1930 to 1940
Datec.1930-1940
DescriptionPhotographs and postcards of Tennant's early sculpture created between 1930 and 1940. The series includes photographs of works exhibited at the French Gallery in 1933, the Leger Gallery in 1934 and the Leicester Galleries in 1938. Stylistically Tennant's carvings throughout this period reflect the influences of Henry Moore, whereas his bronze busts and heads echo the realism of Jacob Epstein.
NotesPhotographs of Tennant's sculpture were originally located throughout the collection without a coherent sense of original order. This sub-series is an artificial gathering of Tennant's early sculpture created to organise the photographs and make them more accessible.
