Description | The photographs are mainly of sculptures made between c.1954-1993, of animals made in steel, enamelled steel or bronze. There are also photographs of sculptures of figures. The images include her first enamel [24]; photograph of installation shots of a group exhibition at 'The Square Gallery', 1988 [36-40]; installation photographs of a group exhibition at a Gordon Close show, 1981 [41& 45]; photograph of Joan Moore with unidentified male [42]; installation views of a show of Joan Moore's works on paper at Triora, Italy, [47-48]; Joan Moore in her studio [49], 'Cat Sitting', 1954 with annotation "sold to Ken Armitage" (now in Leeds Museums & Galleries Collection); maquettes for public sculpture [105-108] see photographs F/4/2-3.
1 - 100 were kept in a 'flip-up' photo album; the original order has been retained. 101 is a photocopy of a list by Joan Moore which was in the album but did not relate to the photographs as they appeared. Some of the photographs are annotated on the back variously giving the title of the sculpture, date and who it was sold to.
Many of the photographs are of varying quality, with some that are out of focus. |
